WAYWO: What are you working one, is a diary for crafty people who like doing things with their hands and heads and hearts!
I need to apologize...it is the BBQ and the fruity wine, Czech beer and Irish whiskey talking right now.... so bear with me.
I have managed to cut up my hands so I have not done any potting so you are stuck with crocheted doilies
I signed up for this before I knew I was having a cookout and everybody brought booze....Oh well!
I began crocheting in High School. I saw cool vests made of giant granny squares the looked really easy to do and so I taught myself to crochet from a book. Granny square vests were all the rage and I made several for my sisters and myself. However I could not find a sample to show you. I know there is one somewhere...anyway, I do have a vest that was in Family Circle Magazine and decided to make it. Remember it is one of my first efforts. It is not good and the fashion was very fleeting. I think I wore it only a couple of times.
And the reverse:
Since my skin has become so thin with my age, I seem to shred it constantly while gardening...so here is what I have been working on for the last month or so:
This is from a kit, they provided more than enough thread and the ribbon.
I have a new display cabinet from a friend who no longer had a need for it. And I crocheted a peacock doily for the bottom. I will try to display some of my nicer pots as soon as I find a few!!!!
I didn't have the colors that the pattern called for bit it turned out pretty good. The only issue was the changing of the colored yarns which became time consuming.
These next two doilies didn't take much time and the patterns are free off the internet.
and this one that I got from a friend who bought a book with loads of crocheted patterns:
Here is the doily before it was finished...the directions left a lot to be desired...but I was able to figure out something to make it work.
Again, the changing of the colors was time consuming, but the finished product turned out nicely and it does fit in my new display cabinet since it is small enough and only took a few days to complete while watching TV.
I don't recommend watching TV, because of interruptions an losing count. I had to redo the florets because I miscounted and didn't discover it until I was in the process of joining...
So What crafty things have you been working on?
